Yingli Yang (UCLA) - MR guided RT: clinical application and developments with on-board MRI
Tuesday 29 June 2021, 12:00pm - 01:00pm

With the successful integration of Radiation therapy (RT) and MRI into a single treatment system by different vendors, the value of MRI in RT workflow is increasingly recognized in the past 10 years or so. However, access to this novel treatment system is still limited to a few academic hospitals and large cancer centers. As MRgRT increasingly shows potentials and having the potential to be one of the main stream treatment system, it is highly desirable to disseminate the new knowledge gained and lessons learned by current MRgRT users to the wider audience. In the first part of the talk, UCLA clinical experience on MRgRT will be shared. The second half of the talk will cover research experiences focusing on exploring the potentials of the on-board MRI.

Short Bio:
Dr. Yingli Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging from Columbia University and finished her therapy medical physics residency training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Yang is currently the lead Medical Physicist for the UCLA MR-guided Radiotherapy System (ViewRay Inc.). Her research focuses on advanced development of MRI guided Radiation Therapy techniques, including dynamic multidimensional imaging for treatment planning and functional imaging for assessing tumor response to radiation.
